BrandMortgage and BrandBank will be hosting a Certification of Completion Ceremony at Meadowcreek High School in Norcross Georgia on Monday, April 29, 2013 from 10:30am-1:30pm for 125+ high school students who have successfully completed the online literacy modules. This web-based program uses the latest in new media technology Level 4 simulations, avatars, gaming and adaptive-pathing, to bring complex financial concepts to life for todays digital generation. Through this platform, students will become certified in hundreds of topics in personal finance, allowing them to become more informed, financially responsible citizens. BrandMortgage and BrandBank have partnered with EverFi, Inc. to bring this interactive financial management program to Gwinnett County high school students at no cost to the schools. So far 20 Gwinnett County high schools have been given access to the financial literacy learning platform.
As a provider of financial services we saw the need to partner with our schools to provide them access to innovative and engaging tools that can be used in the classroom to empower our youth with the knowledge and resources required to make sound and responsible financial decisions. We have a responsibility to partner with educators and parents to educate and empower the next generation of financially responsible retail bank customers, consumers and homeowners. We believe this level of collaboration between the private and public sector is needed to build strong communities, said BrandBank VP, Community Development Officer, Deirdra Cox.
The 10-unit course offers approximately six hours of programming aimed at teaching, assessing and certifying students in a variety of relevant financial topics including credit scores, insurance, credit cards, student loans, mortgages, taxes, stocks, savings, 401ks and other critical concepts that map to national financial literacy standards. The platform uniquely tracks the progress and score of every student and provides students who successfully complete the course with Certification in Financial Literacy, a valuable mark of distinction on college applications and resumes.
From the small rural towns to major cities across the US, EverFi technology is literally transforming how students learn, and we are incredibly grateful for the public-private partnerships that make this possible, said EverFi CEO Thomas Davidson. Brand is critical to the success of our mission to ensure that these cutting-edge tools reach all communities.
